The Parish of All Saint's
Conception Bay SouthHistoryIn the earliest years, Foxtrap and all other communities along the Conception Bay South shore were part of the Mission of Topsail. The first clergyman stationed on the South shore of Conception Bay was the Rev'd Benjamin Fleet, who remained in the Mission from 1846 to 1876. During that time a small Chapel was built, which was later replaced by a larger church in Foxtrap. The Mission of Foxtrap began sometime between 1895 and 1922; and it was in 1905 that St. Peter's Church was built in Hopewell, and the name was changed to the Foxtrap/Hopewell Mission. The first Select Vestry was formed in 1906, made up of two members from each community: Long Pond, Foxtrap, Middle Bight, Kelligrews, Greeleytown, and Peachytown. In 1928, the Mission was changed to the status of Parish. The present All Saints Church building was started June 8, 1931. In 1976, the Parish was divided and then became the Parish of Foxtrap and the Parish of Upper Gullies. All Saints Parish Hall was opened in 1984.
