Cursillo

It is important to remain focused on the objectives that underlie our efforts in the Cursillo Movement. Cursillo has a purpose, strategy and method - all that we do is in support of these concepts.

Purpose

Cursillo is a program a program within the Diocese under the authority of the Bishop. We seek, through a specific strategy to evangelize our environments and thereby change the world for Christ.

Strategy

Cursillo's goal is to empower Saints and Apostles in the Church to win the World for Christ. Saints are people who know God and His love and grace, and who live their lives from this relationship. Apostles are Saints who are committed to the mission of sharing that knowledge with others. To accomplish this goal, the Cursillo Strategy is patterned on Jesus' own example. First, He searched out and called a small group of followers who had the potential for effective witness. Next, He trained them by word and example and inspired them with a vision for Christian witness (3-Day weekend) Lastly, He linked them together and sent them out into the world to bring the world to Him (Fourth Day)

Cursillo Method

The Cursillo Method consists of three elements that link Cursilliastas together. These serve to sustain and strengthen their resolve to live the Christian ideal and be "ambassadors for Christ in the World" these elements are:
  1. Group Reunion
  2. Ultreyas
  3. Spiritual Direction
Weekends are held once yearly in November. The next one will be November 16 - 19, 2006 at the Lavrock Centre. Anyone can apply that has a longing to become better equipped to serve your Lord in your environments.

Presently the Spiritual Director is the The Rev. Sandra Tilley and the Lay Director is Mrs. Joyce Bryant phone 709-582-2439 or email j.bryant@nf.sympatico.ca
